Video

Alpow in 30 seconds

From the weekend ranking to the avalanche bulletin, via the map and a snow report: the app as it is, filmed on iPhone with example data.

Powder score

A score from 0 to 5, not a wall of numbers

For every resort, Alpow combines four weather models: Météo-France AROME and ARPEGE, ECMWF IFS and DWD ICON. When they agree, confidence goes up. When they disagree, the app tells you.

A resort page: powder score 4.6 out of 5 with "High confidence, 4 of 4 models agree", the avalanche danger and fresh snow day by day.

Weekend

The weekend verdict, every morning

Your resorts ranked by powder score, and a three-sentence verdict. Drafted with the help of an AI, reviewed by the Alpow team, and always labelled as such.

"My resorts" ranked for the weekend, below the verdict of the day marked "AI · reviewed".

Map

The Alps and the Pyrenees on one map

The powder score for each resort, the avalanche danger for each massif and, as you zoom in, slopes steeper than 30° and the resort's pistes.

The map: massifs coloured by avalanche danger, resorts grouped by area and the powder score of single resorts, with IGN, Météo-France and OpenStreetMap credits at the bottom.

Touring · BERA Always free

The official avalanche bulletin, as published

Danger by altitude, aspect rose, avalanche problems: shown the way Météo-France publishes them, with a link to the source. The bulletin text is never summarised by an AI.

This bulletin does not tell you whether a slope can be skied without risk.Alpow does not replace the official bulletin or your own judgement. In the mountains, you are responsible for your decisions.

The official Météo-France avalanche bulletin (BERA) for Haute-Tarentaise: danger by altitude, exposed aspects and avalanche problem, with the warning at the bottom of the screen.

Snow reports

Say what the snow is like, in 3 taps

Powder, crust, ice, spring snow, groomed: tags rather than free text, so every skier reads them in their own language. The "verified on site" badge confirms you were in the ski area, without sending your GPS track.

The snow report: "Verified on site", the Powder, Crust, Ice, Spring snow, Groomed and Slush tags, then the Publish button.

Widgets and alerts

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When is Alpow coming out?

Soon on the App Store, for iPhone. No release date has been announced yet.

Is it free?

Yes, Alpow is free at launch. The avalanche bulletin will always be free, for everyone.

What about Android?

No. Alpow is built for iPhone, with its widgets and alerts. No Android version is planned.

What about Switzerland or Italy?

Not yet. Alpow covers French resorts in the Alps and the Pyrenees, with Météo-France bulletins.

Does Alpow replace the avalanche bulletin?

No. Alpow shows the official bulletin as published and links to its source. It never tells you whether a slope can be skied without risk: the decision on the mountain is yours.

What do you do with my location?

It is only used, on your iPhone, to check that a snow report comes from the ski area. The server receives the resort and the time, never your coordinates.

The next snowfall,
you will see it coming.
